Apple on its site has recently added fresh instructions on how to clean its products including iPhones and other gadgets. The move might have resulted from people's widespread concerns of getting infected by the highly contagious novel coronavirus, which originated from China's Wuhan city and has now spread to more than 100 countries in the world.

On the website, the Cupertino-based company now says that it is okay to use disinfectant wipes to clean your Apple products. "Using a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces," the website says. along with that, the site also added that people trying to clean their iPhones, iPads and other Apple products should not use bleach. “ Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don’t submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don’t use on fabric or leather surfaces."

Earlier, for all these years, Apple had strongly advised its consumers against cleaning or wiping their iPhones, etc with disinfecting wipes, but with the growing pandemic fears all around the world, Apple now says you can.

Here's how to clean you iPhone:

Turn off your iPhone.

If you’re using a disinfecting wipe, gently wipe down the hard surfaces with the cloth.

If you don't have a disinfecting wipe, clean the outside of your device with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water

Make sure you don’t get any liquid in the charging port or other areas, and if you do get liquid inside the product, visit the Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store as soon as possible

Don’t use paper towels or other products that might scratch the screen

Don’t spray cleaner directly on the phone

However, keeping with its earlier instructions, Apple’s website still stresses on the fact that you should "not use aerosol sprays, bleaches or abrasives."
